Speaking of puppies....

Well, looking for a new puppy brought me to YourHub, which brought me to the blogs, which made me revise my profile, and now here I am writing again just to be writing again.

I really need to do this more often - its very uplifting, not to mention alleviates stress, excercises my fingers and stretches the brain cells.

Still here in the panhandle of Nebraska. Still reading the Denver Post and Rocky Mountain News to keep in touch with Denver happenings.

Back to puppies. I lost my cocker spaniel a year ago last August and I have finally come to the conclusion that I miss his soft floppy ears and sad brown eyes enough that I need to find another cocker spaniel.
Charlie followed me everywhere - waiting in the driveway each day until I drove in, then he would wiggle all over as I exited the vehicle. He was always waiting patiently until I had time to pet his soft head and he would eat absolutely anything I gave him - including mushrooms and onions. He also got dog hair all over the place, threw up indiscrimately, got into the garbage on a regular basis, lost all of his teeth and I loved him terribly.

I still have the cat-dog who also follows me around. Just like a dog. But he tells me constantly he is not a dog and will not come when I call him. He saunters through doorways at an arrogantly slow pace, determined to let all of the propane heat leak out of the open doorway as I try to cajole him into a faster pace. Every now and then for no apparent reason the cat dog leaps up and sinks his claws into whatever appendage might be available. No the cat dog is not a dog.

The mule is also a lot like a dog. He too follows me everywhere. But alas, were I to let the mule in the house he would likely fall through the floor, probably would not negotiate the stairs very well and I am quite sure that he is NOT house trained. Besides he would eat the house plants.

The two story white house in the Panhandle of Nebraska has been painted, the fences are mostly repaired, the Nebraska winter has been relatively kind to me thus far. All it really lacks is a puppy to chew and throw up and leave dog hair everywhere and terrorize the cat-dog, but mostly just to be my puppy.

Two draft mules have joined the cadre of four-leggeds running around my small ranch. But they are also not house trained. Although Jesse and Hank would like to be house animals, at approximately 1650 odd pounds a piece, I don't think that would be a very wise idea.

So if you have any leads on cocker spaniel puppies, I would love to hear from you.
Yours Truly,
Kim in the Nebraska Panhandle
