You belonged to no one to take or give.
Our gift from God was the life you lived.
To a faithless few, you may seem gone.
But we who share your faith, know you live on.
Those who measure worth in dollars and cents,
May find your legacy lacking, their folly immense.
The measure of a soul is the hearts it will touch,
The rich left with little, your treasure will be much.
The constraints of this world no longer will bind,
Like a bird on the wing, 'tis freedom you'll find.
Free from all strife, pain or duress,
To bask in the light of God's love, you'll be blessed.
You entered this world bathed in purity and light,
You left the same way, at the long day's twilight.
A beacon of grace from your first breath to your last,
You're at home and at peace now, your trials have all passed.
