Blog Entry 4 of 4 mims much ado about nothing
My blog(by the way, that is an ugly word)could well be titled Diary of a widowed aged insomniac who is old enough to quit feeling guilty about her lack of housewifely virtues, cooking, yard work,etc...have reached the age when I want to reminise about the olden days, marvel in disbelef of the nowdays and I have so much to say about every day and noone to listen! Until the blog! I have a loving family, some of whom feel I am extremely witty and some of whom feel I am witless, but they all love me and they are all my very life. Nothing gives me more pleasure than causing them to chuckle or giggle and if i could do the same for others it would please me. A reader of some of my trials and tribulations that I intend to speak of need not fall on the floor in proxyisms of glee..but perhaps a small smile with which they can relate would be satisfying. My tales will all be true with just a wee bit of exaggeration caused by a quirky imagination and sense of humor that I would hope to impart. Will hope to keep them seasonal but I do go off on tangents. You youngsters skip my blogs....they will be meaningless...it is as we age that we need to be able to laugh at ourselves and the tricks that our minds and bodies have played on us. Laughter IS the best medicine...along with an aspirin or two perhaps.

Think I have my ducks in a row...

....and my strategy for spring cleaning lined up. (Excuse me while I double check)..yep there it is....my dust rag and it still looks almost new, a spray bottle of pledge (hope it still works) my broom and the accompaning dust pan which I've taken to wearing around my neck since it is so easily misplaced and so essential to the success of spring cleaning. (by the way, screw vaccums) and oh yes, probably a bottle of Windex to aid in my exercise of futility. Just as well cross windows, mirrors and glass topped coffee tables off my cleaning list. I've tried squeegies, chamois (bet you didn't know how that was spelled but its pronounced "shammy" for your future reference,) vinegar, newspaper...everything but the eye of newt, and streaks and smears are still visible, altho they have sometimes changed position. so by crossing that off think I'm ready for "go".

I heard one of my friends mention painting her rooms and I thought to myself that might be kinda fun...wish i had the time! I know I kinda enjoyed it back in '80, all but the getting ready before and cleaning up after. And it was quite a challenge painting around all those little cobwebs. My friendship scale took quite a nose-dive when she mentioned she hated washing the walls first!! I really can't abide fanatics. Why would anyone wash the walls before painting them? Either/or would be my motto, if I had one. Just to affirm my suspicions about her faniticism I peeked into her closet...Yep...they were painted! Who would take the time and effort to paint a closet unless they had a light in there and were planning to spend a lot of time in there searching for their Kirby vaccum cleaner. Oh well, it takes all kinds I guess!!

By the way, young house wives, here is a helpful everyday hint for you should you get all tied up with Oprah, Phil, and Soaps, and you hear your husband's car in the driveway. Grab a kerchief to wrap around your head, spray a can of Pledge liberally around the house, if you have enough time throw some cinnamon in skillet to heat, grab a broom and wait at the door with a drink in hand for him. What a good little wifie you are!! Hope he appriciates you.
