People who inspired you (and how): My mother, Jean Woodis - for her total devotion to her family and her strong faith in God. And then there are those ordinary people you may call friend, brother or sister, or people who you work with or you read or hear about-that face adversity or illness, but they still persevere. They are the people who give back to their communities, share what they have and are always willing to lend a hand.

How you have contributed to the community: I have been actively involved in my community for 20 plus years. I started off battling landfills, worked to develop a region wide land use plan and testified on behalf of my rural community at the state legislature. I have been involved in setting up my Neighborhood Watch program, coached girls recreation basketball and softball for 5years and been a member of the Country Circle Club for 25 years. I served on the Colorado Opens Land Board, the Fort Lupton Recreation Center Ad Hoc Committee to build the recreational center and I was instrumental in getting an $11.9M grant from Great Outdoors Colorado for the St. Vrain Legacy project in southwestern Weld County. I assisted in the recovery and response efforts in the greater Gilcrest community as a result of the devastating tornado - May 22. I continue to serve as the chair of the Northwest United Credit Union Board and I serve on the South Platte Valley Historical Society. My current project is to help rebuild a replica of the trapping Fort, which was the original Fort Lupton.

I also served as a Weld County Commissioner from 1993 -2001. In my capacity as commissioner I served on Governor Romer's Blue Ribbon Transportation Panel; Co-Chair, Governor's Smart Growth Transportation Committee; Chaired the State Transportation Advisory Committee - 8 yrs, chaired the Upper Front Range Transportation Committee - 8yrs; and was member of the North Front Range Metropolitan Planning Organization.

I was appointed by Governor Owens to the State Board of Human Services, Chaired the Colorado Works Allocation Committee, appointed to the Child Welfare Committee and served on the Colorado Benefits Management Systems Committee. I also served on the Energy and Mineral Impact Advisory Committee - 8 yrs.

What are the biggest issues facingyour constituency now:

Growth: In the past few years a lack of communication and cooperation between the county and the municipalities in the county has occurred. I will work to maintain local control, protect private property rights and encourage communities and the county the county to work together to find common solutions.

Transportation: I support investing in a transportation system to meet the needs of a growing Weld County. I support working with Weld County communities to develop a county-wide Master Transportation Plan.

Loss of revenues: Because of a poor national the county will need to continue with fiscally conservative management. I have a proven track record of being fiscally conservative and using taxpayer dollars efficienctly.
