Adams County officials presented a one-hundred thousand dollar check to Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Denver for the new Robert M. Shopneck Branch in Brighton.
Making the presentation was Dr. Donald Cassata, Director of Social Services for Adams County and C. Mark Tandberg, Division Director of Adult Services for the County.
"We gratefully accept this wonderful donation," says Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Denver President and CEO Tim Sheahan. "The money will be used for operating expenses when we open for kids August 27th. And with our recent 4-star rating by Charity Navigator, the people of Adams County can be confident their money will be put to good use."
The new Club will also host an open house Saturday, August 25 for the general public.
Sheahan and Club Director Scott Hyde took Dr. Cassata and Tandberg on a tour of the new Club. They got to see the new teen center, game room, technology center, learning center and gymnasium.
Both gave the $4.2 million facility an enthusiastic thumbs-up.
And Dr. Cassata chipped in with several ideas he had for fun activities for the new members when the Club opens.
