A total of $740,383.51 in Scientific and Cultural Facilities District (SCFD) grant awards was presented to 35 local Adams County organizations at a check distribution ceremony on Oct. 19.
The Adams County Board of Commissioners approved the funding plan for Scientific and Cultural Facilities District (SCFD) Tier III grant awards for 2007 programming. Tier III consists of local 501(c) scientific and cultural organizations that qualify for funding by submitting grant applications to their respective counties in the SCFD district comprised of Adams, Arapahoe, Boulder, Broomfield, Denver, Douglas and Jefferson counties.
Commissioners
Alice J. Nichol
,
W. R. "Skip" Fischer
and
Larry W. Pace
were present to distribute checks to each organization receiving funding in 2007. Adams County was pleased to distribute grant awards to 74 programs, as well as incentive funding, visual arts funding, seed money and creativity grant funding.
"We appreciate all these organizations for providing wonderful opportunities to the citizens of Adams County," said Nichol.
Grant applications were reviewed by the county's eight-member Adams County Cultural Council and recommendations were made to the Adams County Board of Commissioners, which then submitted final recommendations to the SCFD.
The SCFD provides funding for arts, scientific, cultural and historical organizations through a one-cent sales tax on every $10 spent. The SCFD funds more than 300 organizations throughout the seven-county metro area and is a nationally recognized model for cultural funding.
