Family and community plan help for State Trooper
Contributed by: Friends of Hutch on 7/3/2008

Trooper Hutchinson battling rare cancer

On a Monday in March 2008 State Trooper Hutchinson had a typical day at work - investigating a few accidents, arresting a driver for driving under the influence of alcohol, assisting a couple of stranded motorists, and issuing a few citations and warnings for traffic violations. The next day Trooper Hutchinson listened to his doctor as he was told that he had Mantle Cell Lymphoma, a rare form of a Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma cancer. On that Friday he would learn that the treatment plan would consist of eight rounds of intensive chemotherapy which would require hospitalization and last into the Fall.

Trooper Hutchinson is halfway through his chemotherapy and needs the help of the community which he serves. Several opportunities to assist Trooper Hutchinson are coming up. A few more slots are available for the Friends of Hutch golf tournament will be held Sunday, July 20th, at Riverdale Golf Course in Brighton. Many prizes, donated by local businesses and individuals, will be awarded. Prizes include Cleveland Hybrid clubs, putters, numerous gift certificates from every place you can imagine, and a Ford Mustang provided by Sil-TerHar Ford for the Hole-in-One contest. For more information please call Bill Bone at (303) 829-9973.

On August 8th the Hutchinson Family Benefit Coffee House and Raffle, featuring the Green Apron Talents of Starbucks Coffee, will be held from 6 PM to 9 PM at The Venue (5450 West 120th Avenue in Broomfield). There will be free Starbucks coffee, raffle prizes and great entertainment. Please visit your favorite Starbucks stores in Westminster and Broomfield for more information on the community bulletin boards at those locations.

On September 5th at 6:00 PM a spaghetti feed will be hosted by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9741 at 700 Carbondale Drive in Dacono. Adult tickets are $12 and children are $6. Tickets available in advance through Ron Wolf at (303) 253-2732 and can also be purchased at the door. A cash bar will be open.

Your participation in any of these events and/or donations will be a huge help to Trooper Hutchinson and his family as they face the financial and emotional burdens associated with this difficult cancer. For those unable to participate in one of the events, donations in support of Trooper Hutchinson can be made by contacting the Adams County office of the Colorado State Patrol at (303) 289-4760 or Bill Bone at (303) 829-9973. Contributions big and small are appreciated and tax-deductibility is available.
