John George Reither, 86, died Feb. 11.
He was born Aug. 24, 1921, in Derby, one of four sons born to Christian and Helen Reither at home on a farm where the Rocky Mountain Arsenal is now located.
John attended Cactus Ridge Grade School and graduated from Brighton High School in 1939. On Sept. 11, 1943, he married Clara V. Mayberry of Brighton. He farmed the original Reither land, which was homesteaded in 1879, until his retirement. The farm was on 64th Avenue between Tower and Buckley roads in Adams County.
He is survived by his wife, Clara; daughter Teresa Jean (Donald) Garrison; son George Eldon; grandchildren Sandra (Chris) Manning, James (Sarah) Watson, Shanna Poppin and Shyla Adele Reither; brothers Stanley Reither of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., and Robert (Patricia) Reither of Brighton. He was preceded in death by brother Walter Christian (Jean) Reither. No services.
