Cocaine found at Advanced Performance & Sound

On Wednesday, November 19, 2008, at 1:00 p.m., North Metro Task Force detectives, with the assistance of the Adams County Sheriff's Office SWAT team and the Brighton Police Department, executed a search warrant at Advanced Performance & Sound, 61 S. Cabbage Ave., in the City of Brighton.

The execution of this search warrant was the culmination of a seven month investigation into the dealing of cocaine, marijuana and methamphetamine within the City of Brighton.

As a result of the search, 74.21 grams of cocaine and 1,872.36 grams of marijuana were seized.

Benito Barron, DOB: 12/09/71, a Brighton resident and owner of Advanced Performance & Sound, Inc. and his wife, Florence Martinez, DOB: 09/30/71 were arrested and lodged at the Adams County Jail. During the execution of the search warrant, three other parties received summonses for interference with a police officer.

In the course of this seven month investigation, North Metro Task Force detectives made several purchases of both cocaine and methamphetamine from Benito Barron. It is hoped this investigation and arrests will have a significant impact on the availability of illegal narcotics in the City of Brighton.

Personally, I am glad that so many busts have been made in Brighton. Regardless of how large or small they are, it shows that Brighton PD is taking the initiative to do what they have to do and get those people off our streets. These people needed to be caught. It's been TOO long!

Cocaine, marijuana, and methamphetamine are not "narcotics". Narcotics are defined as opioids or synthetic opioids.

The police were doing what we pay them for. the owners were DEALING drugs no matter how you choose to look it, where it be 1 oz or 1LB, it is still selling illegal substances

It is hoped that busting 4 pounds of marijuana and 2 1/2 ounces of coke will have a "significant impact". That is what the metric unit "grams" converts to in English measurements. Think again. Thank you North Metro Task Force for being so vigilant.
