The Adams County Board of Commissioners announced Anthony Hernandez as Adams County's 2007 Employee of the Year at the Employee Recognition Luncheon on March 13, 2008.
Hernandez began his career in the Public Works Department as a seasonal worker and was hired as a full-time traffic maintenance worker in September 1997. His top priority is maintaining the safety of the motoring public and pedestrians. He goes above and beyond to make sure all traffic signs are in their place.
"It is a pleasure to recognize Anthony Hernandez as the 2007 Employee of the Year," said Alice J. Nichol, chairman of the Board of County Commissioners. "His enthusiasm and attention to detail are a great asset to the county."
Hernandez perfected the sign design and fabrication process using all of the new computerized plotters, tools and materials to meet new reflectivity standards, while incorporating the new Adams County logo. He recently developed a new system for vehicle sign storage and continually strives to find new ways to improve the operations of the department.
Hernandez' positive attitude and willingness to learn new skills and take on new assignments has made him an invaluable asset to the Public Works Department
"I've wanted to work for Adams County ever since I was a teenager," said Hernandez. "I love working here and I wouldn't want to work anywhere else."
Hernandez was selected as Employee of the Year following committee review and selection as Employee of the Month in May 2007.
The Employee Recognition Luncheon is an annual event to recognize employees who have reached a milestone in their employment with the county, retirees and employee of the month recipients.
