I have just recently spent a two-day fishing trip on Lake Pueblo in southern Colorado. The fishing wasn't fantastic or near that. On my first day thereI spent three or four hours fishing the shore along about a mile or two down. I caught three fish, the smallesta smallmouth bass about 12ounces -not even a pound. Then I walked about another20 minutes down the shoreline whereI fished in a small cove and caught another smallmouth - 1.5 pounds. It took me about another hour to catch third once again a smallmouth, about a pound.
My second dayI was at fishing various places of the lake and we couldnt seem to find a "hot spot". We would catch a fish here and there we did manage to catch two giant crappie one was almost two pounds the second about a pound. The two biggest bass were both large mouths - 2 pounds, and 2.5pounds. I caught three fish all smallmouths.
The lake is very rocky.I mean very rocky. I wasn't having much luck out on the shoreline,I was having to enter coves and fish submerged trees and weeds. If you want to catch anything you cant be afraid to be get snagged in weeds or any structure because if you are you wont be catching anything in this lake.
BaitsI would recomend for this lake would be light green and whit single tailed grub baits with about a quarter ounce jig head. We also had luck with crankbaits and caught the bigger fish but dont expect to catch many of those.
Ways your going to catch anything in this lake is letting the jigs sink, and pull the jig about a foot off the bottom. You may also have luck using a crankbait and reeling it for a few seconds and letting it sit and expect to get hits that way.
OverallI wouldn't rate this lake very high - maybe 2 stars out of 5 - but if you fish it the right way you can expect alright luck.
