Happy Memorial Day!
We are grateful to those who have sacrificed for us, and we are thankful to be living in a free country!
It's been a very busy weekend for our family. First of all, we had a great women's conference (along with my husband and a few other brave men ) in Laramie, WY. Beth Moore was amazing and had some great things to share. Our kids spent the night with their uncle Roger, so thanks a ton to him for watching them.
Saturday night, Billy went to the Star Trek movie thingy with some other guys. He did not dress up like a Star Trek person might, so we're thankful for that. Recently he's been explaining to our kids the difference between a geek and a nerd. If you didn't know, there is a HUGE difference, and we're trying to steer our kids more toward the geek lifestyle, although I fear we may not be successful with at least two of the three. We will not give up hope, and will stay the course.
Sunday we did something I SWORE I'd never do. We went to Costco and bought a digital camera. I am so mad that I broke down and did it. But my little Pentax from 1996 is not doing well, and I'm tired of buying film, and developing a few crappy pictures in each roll, and always running out film at crucial times. I've been a snob about it, and it's making me in a bad mood just talking about it. Billy spent at least 6 hours getting the new camera all set up along with a big lesson on my mac, how to download, or upkeep, delete, attach...all those techie terms I couldn't care less about. I refuse to call the thing mine until I see that the developed film is as good as my 35 mm. I mean it too. Not even joking. I'm one of those crazy scrapbooker people, so I want my film to look nice. I'll let you know the outcome...I can tell you care.
Then today we spent a few minutes at the Boulder Creek Festival. I only suggested going in hopes of finding a funnel cake. It was a downpour when we got there, and all of us were soaked. Completely. Like we'd just come survived a tsunami. But we got two funnel cakes, and even though they cost as much as one semester of college it was worth it. (although the grouch who sold them to us might think about not working customer service) . We got to the car and the kids split one, and then the other one was mostly for me because Billy is trying to lose weight. After I'd engorged myself, I did feel quite sick. Faith asked me to put in a cd for the drive home, and I informed her that, "Sorry honey. No can do. If mommy moves from her upright position, Mommy will puke". She totally understood.
It's pretty excited around here, as you can tell. Doesn't get any better than funnel cake on a rainy day. I almost don't even feel like puking anymore. Yay me.
