You'll have to excuse my gibberishy blog today. I'm coming out of a ClaritinD fog, and so far my arms still feel like they are floating above my head. My sister-in-law swore up and down that it would help me stop sneezing.
She's from Texas, and everyone knows Texans don't lie. After 24 hours of mouth breathing, I'm happy to say my nostrils are clear.
And my head is getting there.
Well, we made it home from our two family reunions. The first trip was by car, and was all my side of the family. The second trip, was by plane, to Seattle, and it was for Billy's side of the family. I'm happy to report that our plane didn't plummet to the earth in a fiery crash.
Seattle was interesting. There were highs and lows of course. First of all, a low. Before we left for the trip, I called over to DIA to request Sully Sullenberger-ya know, "Miracle on the Hudson" guy, to see if he could be in charge of our flight to Seattle. Turns out you can't just make requests like that. Flying is so stupid.
Second, two words.
Heat Wave. Yep, record breaking heat. Neat how only 13% of the whole city of Seattle is air conditioned. We stayed in the retirement home guest apartment, thanks to Billy's mom. Unfortunately, it was on the 3 rd floor, facing west.
Yeah, it was hot. Evil hot. You haven't smelled anything, until you smell BenGay baking in the sun.
Third, if you want to go up in the Space Needle, start saving now. I thought about donating my plasma (blood, not t.v.) as a way to pay for the family to go up, but decided against it. Instead, in a couple weeks I plan on saying things like, "boy, that view from the Space Needle sure was something", and casually walk away. Then, a couple weeks later I'll say something like, " I can't believe you can see the guys throwing fish at Pikes Place all the way from up in that Space Needle".
Faith probably still won't believe me, but Billy and the boys will be convinced we saw that. I love a good brainwashing. It's an easy way to make free memories.
Fourth, if you are taking three children, ages 9, 6, and 4 to an old folk's home to stay 5 nights, you need to warn them of a few things. One, old people often look dead when they sleep on the couches lining the halls.
It's best to not touch, or place legos in their mouths. Also, NEVER run in between the elderly folk's and their walkers down the long hallways. When people are shuffling to and fro, little people
can easily trip them, and then they will break a hip. And finally, when ordering food from the dining hall, always just get a burger and a butterscotch sundae.
Don't try to be fancy with the "roasted turkey and stuffing". It never tastes as good as it sounds.
We did have a lot of fun too while there. One highlight was the Seattle Aquarium down on the waterfront. It happened to be "Shark Week" while we were there. Here in Denver we could never get away with "Shark Week". The only thing we can have, maybe, is "Bear Week", but even that's a bit of a stretch. Another place we visited was the Science Fiction Museum. Boy, talk about Mouthbreathers. Billy and the kids loved the exhibits, while I hated them. I left Billy and the kids to wander around, at their own pace while I went outside to sit under the Space Needle, thinking about the great time we had when we went up it.
All three kids were in our nephew's wedding, which was beautiful. They did not ruin anything, as someone may have suggested might happen. ( rhymes with Nommy)
We enjoyed Billy's family and were happy to be together. I think they may even ask us to come back, if we're lucky.
Now we are home, thank the Lord, and are wrapping up the summer. I have three tests this week, and then we have three weeks left of summer. We plan on making up for some lost time, due to my busy class, and just having fun.
For now, I better get going on my studying, before the day is gone. It sure it good to be home.
