Gas prices by design, deception or demand?

In 2000 gas prices were about $1.39 for a gallon of regular. Today gas is about $3.04, that's a 218% increase. Sweet crude is about $94.00 a barrel. All during the Bush presidency.

We all know demand has grown in China, Russia, India, Europe and South America by enormous amounts. But, there has also been an equally enormous amount of oil exploration, development and refining, along with advanced technology for all. We also know when the refineries were damaged during the hurricanes. Prices went up, but never went down even after the refineries went back on-line.

We know Republicans voted in Bush for two terms. Most corporations, big oil, big business made huge contributions to Republicans. A Republican administration will discourage legislation on environmental regulations, especially on oil development. When big oil makes money, especially from activities encouraged from an administration. Oil investors make money and the contributions increase.

Iraq. We had inspectors in Iraq. Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11. Bush called the inspectors out. According to Bob Woodard's book the administration influenced the CIA and FBI to conjure up the WMD's, nuclear and Al Qeada connection to convince Congress to invade Iraq. We found that WMD's nuclear and Al Qeada in Iraq were not present when we attacked. By attacking Iraq the oil supplies they provided to the world market have been and are suppressed. By reducing the oil's world supply the prices go up. Attacking Iraq has alienated and angered most of the oil producers in the middle east. In addition by alienating and antagonizing Hugo Chavez of Venezuela (15% of our oil), its easy for all of them to agree to raise the price of oil. The Bush administration has only exacerbated the cut in production and the increase in the price of oil. Bush and his oil buddies are pleased. The American consumer is not.
