Graffiti paint out coming October 4
- Westminster City Council is encouraging residents to lend a hand in the fight against graffiti by joining a "graffiti paint out" along Little Dry Creek on Saturday, Oct. 4. Community groups, concerned neighbors and interested residents are banding with council for the two-hour event as part of the City of Westminster's "See It, Report It, Remove It" program to address graffiti issues in the city. Participants are meeting at the Westminster Fire Training Tower on Elk Drive along Little Dry Creek at 10 a.m. The event lasts until noon, and free food and beverages will be offered at the end of the project. Paint and supplies will be provided by the City of Westminster. For more information, contact James Mabry, Neighborhood Outreach coordinator, at 303-658-2011, or jmabry@cityofwestminster.us.

RTD sets meeting for FasTracks options
- The Regional Transportation District is hosting a special FasTracks public meeting on Thursday, Oct. 2, 6 p.m. at City Park Recreation Center, 10455 Sheridan Blvd. Join RTD Director Bill Christopher at this Westminster meeting, which will present the current status of FasTracks and some options for FasTracks. The public will be invited to give their feedback on these options and other options they might want to raise. RTD has scheduled a series of public meetings in each of the 15 RTD districts to get public input on the options for moving forward with the agency's FasTracks transit expansion program, which continues to be impacted by slumping sales tax revenues and escalating construction materials costs, like steel, copper and concrete and fuel. If costs and revenues continue on their current trends, RTD estimates that it could cost $7.9 billion to build the FasTracks plan by 2017. The meetings include an overview of the status of FasTracks and explanations of some options for FasTracks. The public will then be given the opportunity to offer their feedback. For more information, visit the FasTracks Web site at www.RTD-FasTracks.com.
