North Metro firefighter headed to Afganistan

On June 24, 2009, Fire Chief John O'Hayre placed a Single Blue Star Banner on two pieces of apparatus (an engine and ambulance) at North Metro Fire Station 64 as a symbol of the department's support for a colleague headed off to Afghanistan. Firefighter Mike Anderson will deploy on his first tour this August as a member of the Wyoming Army National Guard.

Anderson has been a fire fighter with North Metro since May 2000. Most recently he has served as a fire fighter and paramedic at Fire Station 64 in Broomfield. Anderson enlisted in the National Guard just over four years ago. He serves as a Flight Medic for a helicopter medi-evacation crew. His deployment will at least one year in Afghanistan.

Fire Chief O'Hayre stated, "We thank you for your service to our community and your country. You be sure to come back and take these banners off of the rigs in one year." North Metro Fire Fighters and Broomfield Veteran's from the Broomfield Veteran's Museum were also in attendance to extend their well wishes.
