Todd Schumacher is running for Broomfield City Council, Ward 1
My name:
Todd Schumacher
My family:
Wife, Theresa; Kids: Two daughters, ages 6 and 4; and a 16-month-old son
What I do:
Manager, Mergers and Acquisitions with Sun Microsystems, Inc.
My favorite place in town to hang out:
Outside in my neighborhood with family and friends
What I like most about living here:
I love the parks and other opportunities for family recreation.
My interests and hobbies:
Running (I run 20 miles every week through the streets and parks of Broomfield), golfing, skiing, mountain biking, playing outside with my kids.
What is my favorite thing to cook:
I love to make my own salsa from scratch.
People who inspired me (and how):
Thomas Jefferson played a major role in developing the U.S. Constitution. He was a strong proponent of states' rights and ensured that the U.S. Constitution included a Bill of Rights for the people. He also recognized the importance of allowing for rotation of those who serve in elected offices and favored term limits to ensure a government by the people and for the people.
How I have contributed to the community:
I want to be known as someone who has a positive influence on the children of the community, who I value as our future leaders. Through coaching Broomfield T-ball and soccer teams and interacting with kids in the community, I hope to help teach them confidence, integrity, cooperation, and success - and the importance of having fun at the same time!
What are the biggest issues facing your city now:
-How to grow intelligently without compromising the amenities we all enjoy
-Fostering the success of small businesses and maintaining diverse commerce choices for residents and visitors
-Wisely and quickly addressing traffic issues amidst tremendous growth
