Community contributions: I believe our government is what we make it through our personal efforts and contributions. I have sought to contribute in various ways most of my adult life. I have served on a board of education, on city council, as mayor, and currently represent Ward 4 on the Broomfield City Council. I believe it is the responsibility of elected officials to make our local government a cost-effective provider of services to enhance the quality of life for everyone in our community.
Issues facing Broomfield:
· Financial stability. Broomfield has a Financial Plan that must continue to be updated to assure that revenues and development opportunities are in sync and not costing the taxpayer. Create efficiencies in government to lower taxes and reduce debt.
· Control Growth. Balance the demands for revenue from commercial development with the need to maintain our existing assets, acquire open lands and provide residential housing across the spectrum of housing types. Make sure economic development insures future financial stability.
· Reinvigorate older neighborhoods through infrastructure upgrades and low-interest rehabilitation loans for residential properties.
