My family: Live with son, parents and sister nearby.
What I do: Early retirement from Rocky Flats, currently working for Frontier Airlines.
My favorite place in town to hang out: Summer on my back porch with friends and family.
What I like most about living here: The people.
My interests and hobbies: Family, politics, running, golf, SCUBA.
What is my favorite thing to cook: Ribs on the BBQ.
People who inspired me (and how): The men and women who founded Broomfield are an inspiration. Many came as veterans and started their families here. They crafted a community that has grown and matured into a marvelous place to call home. Without their vision and planning Broomfield would be a far different place. They created a solid foundation.
How I have contributed to the community: I think it's important to stay involved in community issues activities. Some do it through clubs, church events, chamber functions, sports, schools or government. There are many different avenues to contribute. I try to stay active in as many aspects as possible. I spent 11 years on the city council and four years as Mayor Pro-Tem.
What are the biggest issues facing your city now:
1. Citizen, staff and council relations. I have seen a divide occurring. Citizens are discouraged with government. It needs to change.
2. Transportation. All aspects in and around Broomfield need improments.
3. Growth. Broomfield's boundaries are fixed. City leaders need to make sure all developments are assets to the community.
