Paul Madigan is running for Broomfield mayor
My name: Paul Madigan
Age: 53
My family: I am a single parent of three children. Blair (21) recently graduate from Brooks College in Santa Barbara (CA), Kelsey (18) is a Laramie County Community College(WY) studying horse training, and Devin (16) is a currently a junior at Legacy High here in Broomfield.
What I do: I am retired from the trucking industry, and currently work as a full-time volunteer for the American Red Cross, along with doing volunteer work with the church.
My favorite place in town to hang out: I would say that my favorite place to hang in Broomfield is the library. I enjoy a good book and spending time by the pond just outside of the library by the amphitheatre.
What I like most about living here: The people of Broomfield, along with the open space and sense of community we have here.
My interests and hobbies: Volunteering, youth sporting events, spending time with my family, along with traveling when time permits.
What is my favorite thing to cook? Italian food is easily my favorite as I enjoy reading about different regions located in Italy and cooking different recipes from the regions.
People who inspired me (and how): My parents and children are my inspiration. My mother and father were role models in volunteering as they spend their entire life helping others. My mother continued to working with meals on wheels as a driver until she passed at 89. San Juan Capistrano, CA, recently built a rose garden in memory of my parents for the years of volunteer services they performed. My children are my inspiration as they support my efforts; believe in assisting others, and watching them begins a life of their own.
How I have contributed to the community: Currently, I am the Chairman of Jesus pizza for Broomfield High School. I am currently serving as President of the Legacy High School All Booster Club. I am a volunteer for the American Red Cross disaster team along with being an Ambassador for the Broomfield area.
What are the biggest issues facing your city now: Traffic, need for family activities, open government, along with transpiration upgrades, family activity areas including a new pool, improvements to the senior center and the outdoor pool "the Bay", along with finishing the Broomfield Commons, and remodeling the library.
