Broomfield [Change Location]

Candidate profile: Judy Enderle

Judy Enderle is running for Broomfield City Council, Ward 4

My name: Judy Enderle

Age: 61

My family: 1 husband, 2 daughters, 1 son, 7 grandaughters, 2 brothers, and uncles, aunts, and cousins scattered across the country.

What I do: Small business owner, president of a Colorado-based conservation organization, member of Broomfield Open Space and Trails Committee, and member of Broomfield Open Space Foundation.

My favorite place in town to hang out: My back yard, Gizzi's, Broomfield County Commons, and Willow Run Feed Store.

What I like most about living here: Broomfield still has a small town feel and that's important to me because it means my neighbors and I watch out for each other. We have trails that weave throughout the city and beautiful views when I decide to stop for a minute. In addition, we are within 30 minutes of Denver, with its cultural and educational amenities and within 60 minutes of the Rocky Mountains, with their long list of recreational opportunities. We are fortunate indeed!

My interests and hobbies: Hiking, reading, camping, gardening, photography, travel, family (did I tell you, 7 granddaughters!), and our dogs. I'd love to have more interests, but I can't seem to squeeze more than 24 hours out of each day.

What is my favorite thing to cook: Anything new and innovative

People who inspired me (and how): People who overcome personal challenges; people who effect change; people who come up with new ideas that are not generally accepted - they are the ones who help us move into the future; and children/young adults who stand up for what they believe is right - they are our hope for the future

How I have contributed to the community: As a member of Bromfield's Open Space and Trails Committee and the Broomfield Open Space Foundation, I work to make trails and open space areas available and accessible to all neighborhoods. I volunteer with the City to help us co-exist with our wildlife. I am collaborating with Broomfield and Boulder to create a Go Bike Broomfield website that helps people find safe and pleasant bike rides throughout the City. I am working to set up a Schools Committee that will give residents a way to vet their issues and find solutions - a best practices group with students' well being at their core. I am involved with transit and water conservation groups to find the solutions that ensure the highest quality of life for Broomfield residents.

What are the biggest issues facing your city now: Growth and all its byproducts, including traffic, pollution, safety, convenience, ease of movement through the City, property values, amenities such as restaurants, and the protection of our community and small town feel. And with all the challenges we face at this crossroads to the future, ensuring that citizen voices are heard and acted upon.
