Former Holy Family HS student wins regional rugby championship match


A penalty kick by Sam Glynn won the USA Rugby Division III Collegiate Rugby Regional Championship match today (October 18) in Eagan, Minnesota, by a 3-0 score over Viterbo University from La Crosse Wisconsin.

Blue Ox Rugby is a team of the University of St. Thomas students in St. Paul Minnesota. Sam helped reestablish an extinct club that was banned from the campus of St. Thomas University. The brothers of Blue Ox Rugby have reached the title match in three short years.

Sam was a 2-time MVP for Tigers Rugby Football Club in 2006 & 2007, and a former Tigers Rugby captain at the fly half position. Sam also a member of the 2A Colorado State Football Championship team as a kicker and wide reciever for Holy Family High School. Tigers Rugby Football Club offers Arvada and Broomfield high school boys the opportunity to learn and play rugby in the spring.
