Blog Entry 4 of 97 Charmaine in the city

I've called the Denver area home for more than two
decades now. But this urban/mountain city is still full of surprises. I'll be posting my adventures here, as I explore local eateries, shops and sharing birthday and vacation photos. And once in a while, I'll throw in a music, movie or food review. I hope to keep this blog interactive, so don't be shy to suggest places I should visit. And check it out: I'm on Brendan's List. Rock on!

Charmaine's Fourth of July extravaganza
Contributed by: Charmaine Robledo/YourHub.com   on 7/5/2006

It was a full two days for both Damon and I as we celebrated this country's heritage in style. We first attended the Colorado Rockies game against the San Francisco Giants Monday night at Coors Field. Damon's mom, Cami, and her husband, Mickey, took us to the game. The rain poured down about an hour before game time, but died out the beginning of the first inning.

It was a truly exciting game! The Giants were ahead during the second inning, but the Rockies came back strong during the seventh. Alas, by the eighth and ninth innings, the Giants took back control of the board and unfortunately, the Rockies lost to them 6-9. Even though we lost this game, the Rockies beat them on Tuesday. The fireworks show following Monday's game was spectacular! I snapped a few shots of it, so enjoy my fantastic photographer skills.

Tuesday night Damon and I went to the Colorado Rapids game against the New England Revolution. The game was held at Invesco Field at Mile High. This was the first time I had been at Invesco and to see a real, live soccer game, so I was looking forward to the event. Well, Damon and I brought our jackets, but the rain proved to be a little nasty, so we were soaked from head to toe by the time we arrived at the stadium! We were grateful we had suite seating so we could dry off.

But in spite of the downpour, we enjoyed a great game as the Rapids beat the Revolution 3-2. And the fans down near the field didn't mind the rain, so they partied it up! And the fireworks show following the game was super awesome - incredibly loud and bright. And since this was the last fireworks display at Invesco field for the Rapids, they went out with a bang! I took some photos, so again, enjoy my fantastic photographer skills.

I hope all of you had as much fun as Damon and I did for Fourth of July. What did you do? I'd love to read all about and see any photos you might have taken. Go ahead and post them at YourHub.com.

Fun stuff. Sorry you got soaked. I watched the fireworks from my apartment balcony-- it was the best Fourth of July ever.

At least your fireworks photos show some progress, and get better as you go.

Those fireworks photos are a lot better than Brendan's. Number 7 is pretty cool.

Sound like you had a lot of fun. I had a patriotic time staying at home all day, eating ice cream and watching Beavis and Butthead on DVD.
