My name: Spencer Swalm

Office I'm running for: State House, District 37 (Republican)

Age: 55

My family: Wife: Marleen, son Byron (in US Navy), daughters Lauren (sophomore at Gonzaga U), Jocelyn (senior at CCHS)

What I do: Self employed. I sell health insurance to other employers; affordable health insurance is a key issue for me.

My favorite place in town to hang out: Home, in a chair reading. Or a dinner at home with my family.

What I like most about living here: Climate and mountains.

My interests and hobbies: Reading, hiking, skiing, mountain biking.

What is my favorite thing to cook: Steak.

People who inspired me (and how): My father. He served with distinction in both the Colorado Legislature and the Denver city council.

How I have contributed to the community: Head of the Legislative Committee of the Colorado State Assn of Health Underwriters, Boy Scout Troop Committee Man, Sunday School teacher, 6 gallon blood donor at Bonfils.

What are the biggest issues facing my district now: The continued economic vitality of our city and state. A strong economy pays for all the other benefits we enjoy as Coloradoans and Americans.
