Blog Entry 17 of 112 GreatAmericanBlog
This is a blog designed to be a conduit for a broad range of Colorado bloggers who have something to say - on current events, society in general, even some creative writing. I cover Southeast and Southwest Denver in general, so I'll write a lot about those areas, and would like to hear from folks there too. But I'll range widely in the creative sense, and you should too. So hit the keyboard and start blogging! Daniel Smith

We should all live by the Optimist creed
Contributed by: Daniel Smith   on 5/12/2006

Recently, I hade the opportunity to attend a meeting of the new Optimists International club formed last year in Castle Rock.
A core group of the club met at The Grange in the Meadows, and discussed future projects and events within their district.

I had the opportunity to demonstrate YourHub.com as a community Web site that can be an invaluable tool for organizations such as the Optimists. I know they will be using YourHub.com to recruit new members, publicize events and let the community know all about the good works the members are performing.

After the presentation, the members gave me a plaque in appreciation of coming from Denver that evening to give the demonstration. What immediately struck me was the Optimist creed.

Though I had seen it before, and the club members recited it after their meeting, I looked on it with a fresh perspective. See if you agree.
In today's world, isn't this a credo we might all adopt?

Promise yourself -
To be so strong that nothing can disturb your peace of mind.
To talk health, happiness and prosperity to every person you meet.
To make all your friends feel that there is something in them.
To look at the sunny side of everything and make your optimism
come true.
To think only of the best, to work only for the best, and to expect
only the best.
To be just as enthusiastic about the success of others as you
are about your own.
To forget the mistakes of the past and press on to the greater
achievements of the future.
To wear a cheerful countenance at all times and give every living
creature you meet a smile.
To give so much time to the improvement of yourself that you
have no time to criticize others.
To be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear,
and too happy to permit the presence of trouble.

Thank you to the Optimist Club of Castle Rock
