Charles Dickens
A characterization by David Skipper
"Holiday Dinner with Charles Dickens"
David Skipper portrays Charles Dickens in 1844, a year after the publication of
A Christmas Carol. Learn how Dickens came to write this classic holiday story of humanism and redemption. This presentation will include excerpts from Dickens' beloved novel. He also loves to engage his guests in holiday parlor games, so bring your festive yuletide imagination and be ready to play.
As a literary scholar, Mr. Skipper, in period costume, begins with a dramatic monologue-in character. He incorporates anecdotes about the author's life, literary influences and the creative writing process while weaving excerpts of the writer's works into the program. He then takes questions from the audience and answers them as the actual author might have done. During the final minutes of the program, Mr. Skipper steps out of character and responds to questions as himself.
$60 per person. Evening format includes
Tours of the Castle, Supper Buffet, Cash Bar,
Presentation, Dessert/Coffee Reception
and Conversation with David Skipper.
