Girl Scout summer camp - fun summer adventures

Looking for a fun, educational experience for your daughter this summer that's in your own backyard and won't put a dent in your pocketbook?

Girl Scouts, the world's leading authority on girls, is offering a day camp program in Franktown this summer. Now is the time to sign your daughter up for summer camp. You do not have to be currently enrolled in Girl Scouts to attend camp - it is open to all girls.

Mile Hi Council's Science Sleuths camp in Franktown runs June 26 to 30 from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Girls ages 6-12 by June 1 will discover how and why things happen in the world of science by having some gooey, slippery and slimy fun.

Girl Scout camp offers a supervised, safe, positive, all-girl environment where girls can discover the fun, friendship and power of girls together. Our camp programs are designed to help girls achieve their full potential by developing courage, confidence and character. We offer all of this for the affordable cost of $100 for a week (or $20 a day), which is significantly less than most other area day camp programs (financial assistance is also available). Lunch is even included for four of the five days. If your daughter is not presently a member of Girl Scouts, there is an extra $10 registration fee, which makes her a Girl Scout.

Mile Hi Council is also looking for volunteers to help bring smiles to the faces of campers this summer. A reduced fee may be available to your camper for volunteering. There are even programs available during the camp day for younger children (including boys) in your family when you volunteer. Whether you want to be in the thick of things or are happier taking a "helping" role, we have the perfect place for you. Come have a summer of fun at Girl Scout summer camp!

Girl Scouts offers overnight adventures for girls at two camps in nearby mountain communities. Girls have the opportunity to participate in traditional camp activities, such as hiking, cooking-out and singing, while experiencing the arts, dancing, sports, llama packing, backpacking, tree climbing using arborist rope techniques and more. There are even camps where girls can become night owls while exploring the camp at dark, and a camp that combines the arts and backpacking - a way to capture all of your memories for years to come. Cost is between $145-$525 (on average about $40 to $50 a day) for three to 13-day overnight camp experiences (age requirements also vary by camp).

Have a summer of fun adventures at Girl Scout camp! For more information about signing up your daughter or becoming a volunteer at Girl Scout summer camps, call 303-778-8774 or visit our Web site at www.girlscoutsmilehi.org.

Girl Scouts - Mile Hi Council is the 15th largest of more than 300 Girl Scout councils in the country, helping girls in Denver and surrounding counties grow strong while discovering the fun, friendship and power of girls together. Alongside committed adult volunteers, who partner with girls to guide and inspire their growth and achievement, Girl Scouts builds girls of courage, confidence and character, who make the world a better place. Our hands-on program stems from the best research and guides girls through a progression where they first discover, then lead and finally take action.
