Eagle Scout awarded
On 11/5/2008
Contributed by: Karen Kennedy on 11/5/2008

Cole Kennedy, 17, of Castle Pines North, has earned the highest advancement award the Boy Scouts of America offers to Scouts, the Eagle Scout Award. A member of Troop 316 since fifth grade, Cole is one of approximately 2% of all Scouts who attain the Eagle rank.

An Eagle Scout must complete at least 21 merit badges and organize a service project that benefits his church, community, or school. For his Eagle Scout project, Cole built and installed 16 mountain bluebird houses in Daniels State Park, with lumber and supplies donated by Alpine Lumber. He has also maintained the birdhouses and conducted a trash pick-up.

Cole is a senior at Rock Canyon High School, where he is in the National Honor Society. He hopes to attend Colorado College, the University of Denver, or the Colorado School of Mines. His parents are Jim and Karen Kennedy of Castle Rock.
