Mia Maciolek
, age 11, and
Chloe Maciolek
age 9, are looking forward to ISI World team Recreational Skating Championships. It will be held at the South Suburban Family Sports Center and the South Suburban Ice Arena from July 28 to Aug. 2. They are entered into 6 different events each which include: Freestyle 4, Solo Compulsory, Couples Spotlight, Jump and Spin Team, Family Spotlight, and the Extravaganza Production.
Chloe's favorite number is the Family Spotlight, because she gets to skate with her dad. Mia loves the couples event because she gets to skate with her sister!
The girls began skating at ages 5 and 6 in the Family Sports Learn to Skate program and decided to start private lessons with their present coach
Maxine Gonzalez
. In 2005, both girls won first place in their skating events at the Colorado State Games held in Colorado Springs.
Dad
Mike Maciolek
has been playing hockey for 20 years. Mike presently skates on two men's leagues. He will skate with his daughters in the Family Spotlight number to
Steven Curtis Chapman
's
Cinderella
. He also serves on the Colorado Skating Club Board. Mom
Christine Maciolek
works at the front desk at Family Sports Center and is presently helping with sponsorship and 900 goodie bags for this important event.
Both girls love their lessons together and their coach enjoys this whole wonderful family! The Macioleks live in Castle Pines.
