Incidents reported by Castle Rock Police


A 34-year-old Castle Rock man was arrested April 4 for allegedly stealing a laptop computer from some people he met at a bar. According to a report, the 34-year-old man had befriended a couple over drinks at the Bar Next Door, 217 Fourth St. At approximately 11:30 p.m., the couple invited the man to their house on the 5800 block of White Chapel Court for a few more drinks, the report stated. The man asked if they would take him back to the bar and they agreed. When the couple returned home, they noticed their laptop was gone, police said. They called the police and the officers eventually located the man the following morning. He allegedly had less than one ounce of marijuana on him at the time of his arrest, according to the report. He was booked into Douglas County Jail and charged on suspicion of theft and possession of marijuana.

Police are searching for an unknown man who hid in a couple's shower and then escaped out the back door on March 9. According to a report, officers were dispatched at 12:42 a.m. to a house on the 4800 block of Foxtail Drive on a report of a burglary. A male resident of the house told police he noticed some noises coming from the main level of his house and was attacked by an unknown man who was hiding in the shower in the bathroom. The struggle continued into the kitchen, where the resident said he was pushed into a glass cabinet, police said. The burglar fled into the backyard and the resident followed him and tackled him to the ground. The burglar broke free, however, and fled the area. Police established a perimeter in the area and released K9 dogs but couldn't track the burglar down. The case still is under investigation. The resident sustained injuries to his head and arm, according to the report.

A 25-year-old grocery store employee was arrested April 9 for allegedly stealing two money orders. According to a report, police were dispatched to Safeway, 880 S. Perry St., on a report of an employee who had just been detained by a security guard. The guard stated the employee pocketed $700 in money orders at approximately 7 a.m. April 8. The employee allegedly admitted he stole the money orders in order to pay rent. He was arrested on suspicion of felony theft.

A 22-year-old fugitive from Utah who was hiding out in the downtown area was located and subsequently arrested April 10. According to a report, police arrested the man at a house on the 0-100 block of North Wilcox Street at approximately 7:49 p.m. for an outstanding warrant out of Syracuse, Utah, for sexual assault on a child. The man currently is being held on a $200,000 bond.

A 44-year-old Denver man was arrested March 30 after he allegedly harassed some passengers on a FREX bus. According to a report, an officer was dispatched to the 5000 block of Factory Shops Boulevard to speak with a bus driver. The driver said he kicked an intoxicated passenger off the bus because he was bothering some of the passengers. The officer contacted the man and ran a background check on his name, which indicated he was prohibited from consuming alcohol or drugs. The man allegedly admitted to drinking a pint of Skol vodka that day and was arrested on suspicion of violation of a restraining order.
