GOLDEN, Colo. - The Colorado School of Mines women's soccer team topped Adams State Sept. 3after a 3-2 win in overtime.
Freshman forward
Kayla Mitchell
(Ontario, Ore./Ontoario) scored her second game winning goal of the season, and her third overall Sept. 3as the
Orediggers
got their second win of the season against the ASC Grizzlies.
Defender
Ann Newman
(Sedalia, Colo./Douglas County) got the Orediggers off to a 1-0 start, with her goal in the 13th minute of the first half. Grizzlies
Sara Lyles
answered back with her goal with just ten minutes remaining in the half.
The second half, Lyles found the back of the net once again, giving the Grizzlies a 2-1 lead. The Orediggers refused to give up as
Alyson Burchardt
(Franktown, Colo./Douglas County) scored her first goal of the season, sending the game into overtime.
Five minutes into overtime, Mitchell put the game away with a free kick just outside the goal box. Mitchell's goal was her second game winning goal, her first one being Sept. 1against Bethel.
