Generally speaking, I do not like bumper stickers. I mean, they are fine on other people's vehicles but I would almost never put one on mine. I say "almost never" because I have so far made one lifetime exception. When I was working for the old Frontier Airlines (the one that went bankrupt in 1986) and the company was floundering, I did affix a sticker on my bumper that read:
Support your hometown airline. Fly Frontier. It seemed at the time in my best job preservation interest. Apparently my sticker didn't help.
Aside from the Frontier Airlines bumper sticker two decades ago, I'd have to say I don't anticipate feeling so strongly about something I'll plaster the sentiment on my car again. Though not a bumper sticker displayer, I am an avid bumper sticker reader.
Most of the time I wonder why a person would mar the appearance of a perfectly good vehicle with a splashy sticker on the bumper. But, today, I wanted to chase down a driver displaying one and yell, "Right on!"
Here is what I saw on the bumper of a car this morning:
The world will be a better place when schools have all the money they need and the military has to hold a bake sale to pay for a new fighter plane.
That's a lot to fit on one sticker and readers have to be close to the back of the vehicle bearing it to read it. I happened behind this particular vehicle at a stoplight. But, what a sentiment!
I recall many funny bumper stickers over the years. Most were off color, politically incorrect or too sexually suggestive to share on this forum
