Blog Entry 39 of 97 Charmaine in the city

I've called the Denver area home for more than two
decades now. But this urban/mountain city is still full of surprises. I'll be posting my adventures here, as I explore local eateries, shops and sharing birthday and vacation photos. And once in a while, I'll throw in a music, movie or food review. I hope to keep this blog interactive, so don't be shy to suggest places I should visit. And check it out: I'm on Brendan's List. Rock on!

A heavenly banquet at the Old Stone Church
Contributed by: Charmaine Robledo/YourHub.com   on 2/2/2007

It's not everyday that you get to dine in a cool, rustic church, but a group of about 15 YourHub.com users and staff gathered Feb. 1 at The Old Stone Church Restaurant in Castle Rock for a meal fit for a (holy?) king.

Prolific YourHub.com contributor and Castle Pines Village resident Barbara Neff coordinated the grand affair. Users Bill Boucher and his wife, Judy, Karin Malchow, Gladys Mercier, Sandy Clifton, Joe McDanieland former YourHub.com community journalist turned Castle Rock community specialist, Angela Copeland, were in attendance.

Staff members that made it to the shindig were Eric Lubbers, Brendan Leonard, Fairlight Baer, Daniel Smith, Tabitha Dialand John Brandstetter, in addition to me, of course.

I always love to see the faces behind the names, so I was happy to finally meet Gladys and Sandy in person. We all had a good time talking about what's going on in our neck of the woods plus the possibility of seeing the famed ghost of the restaurant. Joe McDaniel was able to capture the phenomenon. Check out the exclusive photos on his blog.

For lunch, I ordered their chicken flautas, which came with a side of mild jalapeno cream cheese and rice. It was simply divine! And the flatbread and chimichurri sauce? Mmm.

I was so busy chatting it up that I wasn't able to photographically document the occasion. But I did manage to snap a few shots of us and my lunch. I really should have tried to do a food review here, however for me, The Old Stone Church gets an A+ for good service and awesome cuisine.

I'm in, Mick. I would suggest El Jimidor. The best Mexican food I've ever had. Mole' so good, you'll smack your mommacita. It's here in Brighton, but there is also one in Northglenn/Westminster on Huron between 112th and 120th, not to far off of I-25.

Sounds like a great time! Any chance one could be organized for "after hours" for us working stiffs?

Fab blog, Charmaine. I can't help but wonder what Joey Kirchmer would say about their burgers.

Mmmm, I can taste the cobb salad all over again. I had a great time, but it looks like my sweater and your camera didn't get along too well.
