The Douglas/Elbert Task Force, located adjacent to their thrift store at 416 Jerry Street in downtown Castle Rock, had a banner year in 2006.
12,457 individuals, or approximately 3,200 families, received services from the Task Force in 2006, ranging from food, clothing and home furnishings to emergency financial assistance to prevent homelessness.
$625,000 flowed to citizens in need in 2006 through the Task Force, a non-profit 501(C)(3) charity.
Events such as their annual wine tasting, to be held this year May 4, and their annual sell-out fashion show, scheduled this year on September 21, are always huge fundraising successes.
Approximately $220,000 annually also flows through the Task Force thanks to the generosity of local businesses, citizens, and Thrift Store shoppers. Funds generated by the Thrift Store circulate back into the community in the way of assistance.
The Task Force was founded in 1984 in a small garage. Today, it is a vital support system for Douglas County and Elbert County residents.
Those who operate the Thrift Store, those who serve as client counselors, food bank administrators, and the many tireless volunteers wish to acknowledge those who help make the Douglas/Elbert Task Force a success. It works because of countless helping hands in this caring community.
