A Reason to Wine, a reason for applause

The "A Reason to Wine" fundraiser at The Grange in Castle Rock's Meadows on May 4, 2007, raised $7,500 for the Douglas Elbert Task Force Food Bank. Half the funds were from the fabulous Wine and Art Silent Auction.

If you missed this exciting event, you missed some excellent wines from E-Corp Distributors and Baroness Distributing that were overseen by Vinos del Mundo in Castle Pines Village.

Event sponsors included Eliot Hardy of Allstate Insurance, sponsor of the special order appetizer platters, and Jim Pheney of Plum Creek Investment Services, who sponsored the music by The Adam Douglass Trio.

Other sponsors included TMMC Property Management and Miyama of Colorado. The evening appetizers were provided compliments of Angie's, Gabriel's, Chutney's, Rockyard American Grill, Tony's Specialty Foods, Little Caesars, Skadoodles, Melting Pot Catering, Inc., and A New Taste Sensation Chocolate Fountain.

This year's new venue at The Grange in the Meadows of Castle Rock created weather challenges. Organizers planned to use the spacious patio area, but it was cold, windy and rainy the day of the event. The move inside the beautiful Grange facility meant half the space and unexpected coziness.

The auction offered up amazing art donated to the Thrift Store, as well as wines and spirits, including a magnum of sought after Duckhorn, and a private party wine-tasting for twenty at Vinos del Mundo.

Event co-chairs Judy Svegel and Nani Lindig report that they already plan changes to make next year's event even better. You won't want to miss it!
