On Wednesday, November 15, 2006, YourHub.com super-users Karin Malchow of Lone Tree and Barbara Neff of Castle Rock teamed up to ride the rails.
The journey for this dynamic duo began at the Santa Fe and Mineral light rail station and terminated at the Denver Newspaper Agency's spectacular and oh-so-posh new building in downtown Denver.
Malchow and Neff were greeted in the lobby at the Denver Newspaper Agency by Brendan Leonard, a person in some position of authority, apparently, at YourHub.com. Mr. Leonard seemed pleased to see Malchow and Neff, who arrived a full half hour earlier than they said they would.
Mr. Leonard was forced to improvise, leading Malchow and Neff around the elegant, new YourHub.com offices and showing off fascinating points of interest, such as bulletin boards, giant copy machines, conference rooms, hallways and the terrace. Malchow and Neff were particularly enamored with the terrace, from which panoramic views of downtown and the Rocky Mountains can be absorbed.
Malchow and Neff were invited to sit in a YourHub.com staff meeting where Travis Henry, editor of YourHub.com, cracked his whip in the most inspirational of ways and advised changes are sure to come at YourHub.com, but not soon and not probably in a bad way and, therefore, everyone should just continue business as usual and not fret about impending changes which cannot be anticipated and certainly not described.
Mr. Henry also assured the entire staff they are really good at their jobs and that everything at YourHub.com operates far better than at any tech company run by meth-heads working in garages. The staff seemed reassured overall.
In honor of guests Malchow and Neff, staff members introduced themselves and shared with the group who their favorite Christmas-related character is. This exercise was a real ice breaker. As a point of interest, no one in the room liked Santa best.
Following the meeting, Brendan Leonard showed Malchow and Neff the terrace one more time, allowed them to take a few snapshots around the office, then ushered them to the door.
Karin Malchow and Barbara Neff then hoofed it back to their light rail station at 16th and Stout and boarded a southbound train. They parted ways at the Santa Fe and Mineral station after agreeing the morning had been a splendid success.
