Blog Entry 3 of 96 Charmaine in the city

I've called the Denver area home for more than two
decades now. But this urban/mountain city is still full of surprises. I'll be posting my adventures here, as I explore local eateries, shops and sharing birthday and vacation photos. And once in a while, I'll throw in a music, movie or food review. I hope to keep this blog interactive, so don't be shy to suggest places I should visit. And check it out: I'm on Brendan's List. Rock on!

A super luncheon for our users
Contributed by: Charmaine Robledo/YourHub.com   on 6/21/2006

We held an awesome luncheon today, June 21, for some of our YourHub.com users. I got to see some friends I only spoke to on the phone or wrote via e-mail: Michelle French, Robert White, Greg Liptak ... And of course, all the people I only got to read about: Stephanie Blake, Joe McDaniel, Richard Gardner and Karin Malchow.

As the new co-journalist for the Douglas County team, it was a real pleasure meeting some of the users from those communities. I enjoy reading Stephanie's and Joe's blogs, and Karin has such an entertaining column about the Lone Tree City Council. I got quite a surprise with Robert White, one of the regular columnists and bloggers for the Lakewood site. I had only seen him in print and meeting him in person was eye-opening! He was well over six feet tall. I got to sit next to him and gab with him a bit about his writings and about what we do.

Hearing from each person about how who they are, how they came on board with YourHub.com and why they like it was refreshing and gratifying. It made me feel even better about my job. I actually had Greg tell me how nice it was to receive a thank you note from me last year about an article he submitted on the Lakewood site. It's comments like those that make my job all the more enjoyable.

I had one funny encounter that showed me the impression we make on our users. At the luncheon, I went up and introduced myself to Francis Miller. He received me well, but couldn't wait to see Tabitha. Turned out that he had a stuffed kitty resembling Mid-Night, his cat, to give to Tabitha.

All in all, it was a fun party and I think it showed the growth, the importance and the sheer impact of YourHub.com on all of us.

That lunch was fun. And don't worry-- Midnight's been given the best of care.

Hey Fran, that's okay! As I said, I found it to be enlightening. It was great meeting you in person. I'm happy that we all have such good relationships both online and off.

Delusional is such an ugly word. Fran, has anyone said you have a lively imagination? It was truly an honor to meet the remarkable people at the luncheon. Big thanks.

Hey, Char, this is Fran. I hope I didn't hurt your feelings by shifting my attention to getting Midnight turned over to Tabitha. He needed to use a litter box and was squirming. So, I figured I would give him over to her and let her worry about it. I like your blog. Fran Miller
