Blog Entry 122 of 130 Gladys Mercier, Arvada.
I like living in Arvada.I am a member of Trinity Baptist Church and have many good friends there.I lived in the same house in Denver until I married, so as you can see, I am a native. My husband and I adopted 2 Korean sons who are now adults, 1 is a State Patrol Sgt., the other is an upholsterer. My husband died Sept.1st,2005. My family is a real blessing to me.I will probably write most about them, especially my great grandchildren (3)

Giving and getting.

Stan Dyer is one of the best writers on YourHub.com I always read his stories, mostly restaurant or movie reviews. You feel like you are there with him experiencing them too.

When Stan mentioned that he collects phonograph records, my mind went to the big box of records gathering dust in my basement that my husband had collected through the years. Bob would have been happy to know that someone was enjoying his music as much as he did. He loved country music and we both loved southern gospel, Wayne Newton, Perry Como and most of the pop singers from the forties and fifties. He also had albums from movies such as The Sound of Music.

My kids have long ago put my favorites on CDs for me. I can play them in my car while driving or strike up the band while I am cleaning house!

Stan graciously offered to pay for the records but I wanted him to have them since it was obvious he would love them.

He and Joan Marie said that at least they would take me out to dinner. I am always ready to go out to dinner and especially with such a good restaurant critic.

They picked me up Friday evening, took me to the Arvada Viila and showed me a wonderful time. The food there is very good by the way. The restaurant has been there over 40 years and I had niether seen nor heard of it but I will go back.
What a nice sweet couple Stan and Joan Marie are.

I have loved all of the friends I have made on YourHub.com and am happy when I get to meet some of them in person.

Stan and Joan Marie are right up there with my favorites.

Thank you both.

Hey, Gladys, my own mother could not have said it better and probably would not. Your records are very happy in my collection which includes 78s of Enrico Caruso from the 1920's, the Beatles and just about everything before and after. As for the Archies, that was actually Ron Dante and I believe it only came out on a 45. My 45 collection is rather weak since I will not stack records and I do not like having to change records after every song. People say vinyl is "obsolete" technology, but it still has a place in my heart.
