Blog Entry 9 of 22 Changing My Thinking
I know how to eat healthy, but often make unhealthy choices. And, exercise... what's that? I sporatically exercise and make attempts at eating healthy. That's better than nothing, right? It's a beginning.

Why Momma Made It
Contributed by: Julie Robinson   on 4/11/2006

My mom made oatmeal and raisins for breakfast when I really wanted Captain Crunch Peanut Butter Cereal. I have to admit, as an adult I still like it. Why did Mom make oatmeal with raisins? I think I know that today.

Oatmeal and raisins has lots of good day potential with its protein and carbohydrates and the sweet in the raisins. Today I made a steaming bowl and ate it over the newspaper. There's a cute Spotlight section today in the Rocky about foods you eat being who you are. And, I think I am the cheese curls type. You just have to read the article. I like to read the paper while eating my oatmeal except for the day where they put that dead body exhibit on the front of the spotlight. They are putting that on the evening news during dinner time too. I don't think it's cute, fun, interesting, or that it helps me know about the human body. There are people who handle things like that and they need to be the science lab types or the morgue types. At least, I'd like to see it all gone from the mealtime viewing. If anyone in a power position to make that change is reading this? Please...

That said, I'm glad I ate my oatmeal and raisins this morning. It gives me a warm feeling.
