My daughter
Gabriella
was born a week ago. Her big brother had a little trouble getting used to her the first couple of days, but now they seem to be getting along. My wife's labor lasted about 46 hours total.
We went in the hospital the first night she was having contractions and went home a bit frustrated. Her contractions were erratic at best but she was having them 6-10 times an hour.
The next morning I called up a friend of mine
Jeff Albright
, an acupuncturist/chiropractor, who is also my Aikido teacher. He found time to squeeze us in that day. He did a little acupuncture on my wife who was frustrated with pain.
About an hour after the acupuncture she started having contractions on a consistent basis. They also lasted longer which was the first sign of any progression we had, had so far.
Several hours later we found ourselves in the hospital with her in second stage labor. Might I also say that I see Jeff on a regular basis and he knows what he is doing. It is wonderful to find someone with knowledge of herbs, acupuncture and Chiropractic healing skills.
He is a well-rounded individual and my wife and I are very grateful in the role he played in help bringing our daughter into the world. The doctors and nurses at St. Joseph Hospital were equally wonderful.
All in all it was a pleasant experience for all of us.
Our daughter was born at 7lbs 2 ounces and is wonderfully healthy. (Our son was born at 28 weeks and spent 9 weeks in the NICU)
