Blog Entry 135 of 182 Bad Mom
I call myself Bad Mom because at the time I came up with it, I was learning about the assumptions we put behind our words. I was following the pattern of not believing that my kids are okay, and speaking to them from that basis. I changed that, and it made a big difference. I am from Utah and my people are still living there. My husband was in the Air Force and we rattled around until we saw Colorado, and we stuck.

Bad to the Blog
Contributed by: Lisa Arata   on 9/27/2008

I've been a little worried that I lost readers because I was too boring. I think the best liked blogs are those about people's experiences and observations on life, and currently their thoughts about politics.

Okay so I'll give it another shot and stop being boring.

Uh oh.

Okay well... yesterday I was walking the dogs and as usual the sunset amazed me with all its colors. It looked like the clouds were done up by someone who didn't know what clouds were supposed to look like.

You know, there's the blue sky and the puffy clouds look. That's for relatively warm days.

There's the anvil cloud look. That's for "Should I do a tornado?" days.

There's the "heaven" look, with the soft, bumpy, layered clouds in radiant shades of salmon and orange and pink and lavender.

There's the "I feel moody" sky with mares' tails, for those stormy days.

Well, yesterdays' sunset was kind of a mishmash. There were the blue sky, and then those dark periwinkle purple-blue soft-edged banks of haziness, but then somebody changed their mind and threw in a salmon pink cloud or two, and then to the north there were what looked like virga clouds in blue-gray but they seemed to be blowing upwards. And there were yellow stripes.

The dogs didn't notice. All they cared about was the fresh dog pee on the corner of the electrical transformer box. So I enjoyed that crazy quilt sunset all by myself.

I got a DVD, Son of Rambow, and wanted to have a family movie night but nobody goes for that anymore. So my husband and I watched the presidential debate for awhile and we both agreed that we don't care if America looks cool to others if she doesn't like herself.

This morning on the Drudge Report there's a photo of a smiling Nancy Pelosi saying, "We're back on track." I got such a case of the willies in my stomach.

There. Was that better blogging? I hope so.
