Admittedly, I've been watching the Democrats closer this election season simply because it seems they get more coverage in the media.
But I happened to catch the CNN/YouTube Republican debate and saw how important this primary is as well. This seems like a big moment for the Republican Party to help redefine its mission a bit.
The CNN analysts seemed to think Huckabee is gaining a lot of momentum, but I thought old John McCain kind of ruled the night. He was on the offensive all night.
He has always supported the surge (which appears to be going well so far) and he clobbered Romney on the water boarding torture issue.
Other thoughts:
-- Ron Paul is interesting, but sort of kooky
-- Thompson is fading fast
-- Guliani will face a ton of criticism because he's a little liberal, but I think he has the fortitude to win the primary
-- I liked the YouTube format, but some of the questions were too "CNN-ish"
-- Whoever wins the Republican primary will face a bruising campaign against Hillary Clinton

I would say the Democrats won. I myself am a John McCain guy, just because I trust him to say/do what he thinks, even if I don't always agree 100%.
