The South Suburban Community Orchestra will have its fourth concert this season on Friday, May 16. Kelcey Howell, 12 year old cello soloist will perform Haydn's Cello Concerto in C with the orchestra. Kelcey, who resides in Highlands Ranch, is a second-year member of the SSCO and a fourth-year member of the Arapahoe Philharmonic Youth Orchestras (APYO) program. She has been a soloist or performed with several local orchestras, including the Arapahoe Philharmonic Orchestra, at age nine. In April of 2007, Kelcey was featured on Colorado Public Radio Station KVOD's "Colorado Spotlight" program. Last July she performed at the Mt. Rushmore Amphitheatre as a member of the 2007 Young Musician's Foundation National Debut Orchestra Camp; and most recently, she participated in the Musician's Society of Denver 2008 Honors Recital. In addition to playing the cello, Kelcey studies piano and ballet. Also on the SSCO program will be a special piece, "Hurricane", composed by another orchestra member, Andre Hut. Mendelssohn's "Scottish" Symphony No. 3 and Tschaikovsky's 1812 Overture will be performed as well. The concert will be held at Grace Presbyterian Church, 251 E.
