Pledges for Pets Telethon a tail-wagging success

It was a record-breaking year for the Dumb Friends League Pledges for Pets Telethon, which raised more than $210,000 to help the homeless pets at its shelters. The telethon was held on FOX31/KDVR on Sunday, Jan. 28.

"We'd like to thank FOX31, all of our sponsors, volunteers and everyone who pledged support to help make our ninth annual telethon the most successful one yet," said Bob Rohde, Dumb Friends League president. "All the money pledged to the telethon will help us care for more than 25,000 homeless animals this year alone and will enable us to provide services that help pets and people in our community."

Animal lovers who missed the telethon can still help by calling in pledges at (303) 751-5772, Ext. 7227, or by making online donations at www.ddfl.org. In addition, people are encouraged to participate in the Pledges for Pets Online Auction by visiting www.ddfl.org now through Feb. 3. Bids can be placed on more than 100 items, including jewelry, fine art, restaurants, entertainment and vacation packages, and much more.

The telethon was hosted by several FOX31 celebrities including: Steve Kelley, Shaul Turner, Dan Daru, Heidi Hemmet, Ken Clark, Melissa Mollet, Sean Tobin, Joana Canals, Rob Marshall and his dog, Dylan. Local radio personalities who joined in included Murphy Huston, Denise Plante and Steve Hamilton of KOSI 101.1 FM, Rick Crandall of KEZW 1430 AM and Archer from the Mountain 99.5 FM.
