Hooked on Books, a Castle Rock Tradition, seems to have disappeared. Mystery surrounds the vacancy left by Monique as her Hooked on Books store at 440 4th Street in Castle Rock is now bare of books, locked and lights off. What happened to the store? Will it reopen somewhere else? I am saddened to see the demise of another independent bookstore. The store seemed to be doing well in its location next to the Crowfoot Valley Coffee Shop. No one seems to know what happened so I wanted to open the communication channel within the community to see if something could be done to save our local bookstore.

What is the latest status of Monique Smith and Stoa? I was in town (home is Michigan) back in October '07. I was told she was moving back into the Wilcox Bldg. Any info?

Hooked on Books is now located at 425 Wilcox and has expanded into "Stoa-Boutique and Galleries" which includes an art gallery of several local artists and of course the books. What a great place this has turned out to be!www.crhookedonbooks.com

I know! She had some problems with her landlord... This happened right before I made my move, so I happened to have a ton of boxes and a truck, so I helped her move out. As I recall hearing, she did re-open the store on the 1st of December elsewhere in Castle Rock. Not lost, or gone forever, just moving- kind of like me!
