Interview with Lisa Grafner and Lori Swager, owners
Q: How did you get involved in this business?
A: We have worked together for more than 15 years, but in the beginning we had the dream of owning our own business. We first met each other working together in outpatient physical therapy, then worked together for a chiropractor doing rehab for his patients. At that time, Lisa received her Pilates certification and absolutely loved the work and what it did for her patients and personally for her own body. A short time later, Lori was also certified and the wheels began moving toward opening our own business doing Pilates and massage. After five successful years, we expanded our studio adding yoga, Zumba and Pilates mat classes to the mix.
Q: What distinguishes you from other businesses in your category?
A: Our backgrounds in physical therapy and athletic training set us apart from other studios. Combined, we have more than 40 years experience working with athletes, kids, seniors, equestrians, dancers and the normal, everyday population.
Q: What do you like best about your line of work?
A: Helping our clients achieve their fitness and wellness goals. There's nothing better than helping a client fit into that sexy dress or finish training for a marathon. We love helping people.
Q: What is your business' biggest challenge?
A: Educating the community in exactly what Pilates is and the variety of services we offer.
Q: Something people might be surprised to learn about you or your business:
A: Lisa is a native of Maine, moved to the Denver area in 1994 and made Castle Rock her home in 2005. She is the mother of a very active 6-year-old and resides with four generations under the same roof. Lori is a native of Colorado, growing up in Parker and moved to Castle Rock in 2004. She is the mother of a Saint Bernard named Judy and loves to golf with her husband.
