OUTSTRETCHED ARMS
Contributed by: Bob Rotruck on 10/6/2007

I visited Northminster Church the other day,
I was looking for something special to pray.
I watched the parishioners come and go,
Some walked quickly and some walked slow.
As I sat there and thought of the Christians there,
I wanted a special memory to share.
There was the Holy Spirit moving about,
It was speaking to me and I wanted to shout.
Then God in His grace and love,
Hit me like the wind from a passing dove.
Look out the large round window ahead,
God's arms were reaching out in strong stead.
"To give you an idea of my strength and grace,
I've placed this oak tree in this place.
See my two arms stretching to the open sky,
I've grown this tree here so I wouldn't look shy.
I planned this tree here over a hundred years ago,
And grew these powerful two arms just for show.
I've withstood mighty windstorms and a terrible blow.
But here I stand to show you my strength,
For your soul to save, I would go any length.
To prove my love and grace for you and all,
This symbol of mine is not about to fall.
So when you pray in this church of mine,
Look out the window and remember I'm here all the time."
