Lights, Camera Action!
22 Douglas County 4-H members participated in the annual 4-H Talent and Performing arts contest on June 13th at Creek side Bible Church outside of Castle Rock. Performances ranged from piano solos, to TaeKwondo demonstrations, and fiddling tunes to lyrical dance.
Seth Huber playing "The Hermit Crap Cha-Cha" won the piano solo junior division. Joanna McKinney won Champion in the instrumental woodwind solo playing "Seranade."
Luke McKinney won the instrumental string solo playing "may song." Jessica McKinney won the intermediate string solo playing "American Fiddle Tunes." Jessica & Joanna McKinney, playing "Gavotte from Paris & Helena" won the string /woodwind ensemble in the intermediate division.
Serena Walker played "Perpetual Motion" to win the largest category- piano solo by an intermediate. "Chanson Triste" won Leah Huber 1st in the senior piano solo. Playing a piano ensemble entitled "The Journey" in the senior division Emily and Leah Huber received first.
In the vocal division Clarity Engel sang "Wide Open Spaces" to place first in the junior vocal solo. Kate Huber, the youngest contestant of the night at 7 years old, sang "Welcome to Wonderland" and received a participation ribbon. Jessica McKinney won the intermediate solo division by singing "amazing Grace." Hailey Rich sang "Still Hurting" to win the senior solo division.
In the Dance division Joanna McKinney danced to "I Can Only Imagine" to win the junior lyrical dance solo. Shannon Reilly Danced to the "Irish Warrior" to win first in the intermediate native/ethnic dance solo.
Kiersten Johnson did a "TaeKwondo Choong jung Two Form" demonstration to win the junior other division. Finally Maggie Weinroth won the master of ceremonies division.
All participates that places first in their division received a grand champion ribbon and will be allowed to compete at the Colorado State Fair in August at the Pueblo State Fair Grounds.
