Taste of Castle Rock to feature 29 area vendors
Contributed by: Charmaine Robledo/YourHub.com on 7/12/2006

The Taste of Castle Rock first began as a way to thank customers at the Castle Rock Bank, according to bank vice president, Mike Forney. But, popularity of the event soon drew more than customers as recent attendance has reached 2,000.

The daylong affair has been a staple of the bank for more than 13 years, Forney said, and is offered free to the community.

"We don't sell tickets and we don't charge admission; this is absolutely free," he said.

The Castle Rock Bank's Taste of Castle Rock, happening on June 22, features two events: A lunch from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and the actual "taste" itself from 4 to 7 p.m. The bank provides the lunch and they cook hotdogs and hamburgers. The evening half is where people can sample dishes and drinks from 29 area vendors, who are also customers at the bank. Additionally, there will be live music by Dave McKnight and the No Credit Band, face painters and balloons.

Although the Taste of Castle Rock has grown in both recognition and crowd numbers, Forney said they still want to keep the event local.

"We're not like the Taste of Colorado," he said.

The Castle Rock Bank's Taste of Castle Rock will be held at the bank's parking lot at 501 Wilcox St. in Castle Rock. The bank also has another branch in Castle Pines and Forney said they are still deciding whether to hold an event there.

For more information about the event, call the bank at 303-688-5191.
