My husband,
Kevin
, has a June 18 birthday, which falls within a day or two of Fathers' Day each year. Thus, for as long as I have known him, the two celebrations have been combined.
When Kevin and I married in 1989, his children from his first marriage were ages six (
Kami)
, eight (
Adam)
, and almost eleven (
Jenny
). They'd spend about a month each summer with us, usually the month of June. The kids and I would blow up balloons, make banners and wrap gifts for Kevin to celebrate both Fathers' Day and his birthday.
The combo celebration has carried over with our two sons,
Hayden
, age eleven, and
Carson
, age eight.
Happy birthday, happy Fathers' Day, Kevin!

I can totally relate to this combined celebration! My son was born on May 11th and I spent Mother's Day in the hospital that year! Since then, we have combined celebrations. Mainly because my city dwelling families think that it is sooooo far to commute to Castle Rock, but it's a fun party just the same. I can't think of a better kid to share "my" day with!
